about,richard cornachione

My objective when it comes to design is to make an interface or experience that is intuitive to the user and communicates information to them in a straightforward manner that is also visually appealing. I've accumulated years of professional experience focused on user-facing design and development.

In my current position as IT Lead for Case Western Reserve University's Cardi-OH grant, I am responsible for creation and maintenance of multiple websites. My job requires knowledge of numerous technologies, ranging from web development in PHP and JavaScript, and creating webpages on desktop site/mobile apps as well as email marketing. In my previous role as Web Producer for two TV stations (WOIO CBS 19 and WUAB My 43) I executed and managed all ad trafficking of all advertisements for both websites and our mobile apps utilizing multiple platforms such as Google DFP/Adsense, Yume, and ADM Verve, as well as writing news stories in AP format. My work responsibilities range across multiple operating systems, including Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux. Being the sole web producer, I am responsible for all aspects of the entire staff’s digital advertising and social media and manage code for both our desktop site and mobile applications.

education

I am a media-driven IT professional possessing a vast background spanning web development, IT, media, marketing, writing, education, and management. With over 13 years of experience in communications/web development/information systems and over five as Web Producer of Cleveland CBS 19 News and Webmaster of WUAB TV, I have learned many facets of creating and leading media-based projects within a fast-paced environment. I have 2.5 years teaching IT courses specializing in hardware, server configuration, web development, OOP, CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Cloud+ and Project+ certification. I completed my Masters of Science in Information Systems degree from Northwestern University with a specialization in Project Management and Database and Internet Technologies. My Bachelor’s degree was completed at The Ohio State University with a major in Communications in Technology and Visual Communication Design.

My undergraduate curriculum had a web design focus, and encompassed a wide range of skills ranging from Adobe Creative Suite to web development using HTML/CSS and PHP. My graduate studies focused more full stack development and project management. My “ePlanet” design project was selected for exhibition at Haskett Hall Gallery (and also stolen from Haskett Hall Gallery) during spring quarter 2007. I also redesigned multiple websites and developed an interactive airport kiosk to help people effectively locate and utilize all of the components of the Chicago O’Hare International Airport.
